Harmonisation via Benchmarking
Owners of Good Agricultural Practice (G.A.P.) standards worldwide can seek to demonstrate equivalence with GLOBALGAP through an independent benchmarking process. Interested parties can submit their first application via Registered Users and start an independent assessment by Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ) and Deutsches Akkreditierungssystem Prüfwesen GmbH (DAP), the Office of German Accreditation System for Testing.
The GLOBALGAP benchmarking process can be compared to a filter system, which qualifies and harmonises different standards around the globe. Part of the process is a member peer review, whereby members have a six week period to make any objections.
At the end of the approval procedure there is also an independent witness assessment. The farms under assessment must meet the requirements of both the previous and the GLOBALGAP standard. This is guaranteed by parallel audits, which take farm conditions into account.
Standard owners who wish to apply for benchmarking may refer to the Registered Users section.
