From 20 to 22 June the animal welfare company PHARMAQ-ZOETIS hosted a private GLOBALG.A.P. Capacity Building & Farm Assurer Workshop on the GLOBALG.A.P. Livestock and Aquaculture certification system. All participants belonged to different animal welfare departments of PHARMAQ-ZOETIS and included representatives from the industry: aquaculture, pigs, dairy cattle, beef cattle, sheep, hens and poultry farming and processing.

After two days of intensive training, all participants successfully took an examination, making them a new generation of well-trained and experienced persons in their respective sector to further support the implementation of good animal farming practices. One of the attendees, Jesus Maes, Production Manager Campofrio Food Group, remarked: „ GlobalG.A.P. has positioned itself as one of the most valuable worldwide certifications to establish relationships with retailers and to guarantee sustainability criteria in pig production."

The highlight of the third day was a visit to EUROTRUCHA, one of the leading Spanish trout farms, which at the same time is a worldwide leader in the supply of trout eggs. General Manager of EuroTrucha, Carlos San Miguel, said, "The Alevines del Moncayo plant, part of the EuroTrucha group, has been certified since 2014, but the completion of this course has helped me gain a deeper understanding of the benefits for my clients and the scope of the Global.G.A.P. certification."

GLOBALG.A.P. welcomes this pro-active initiative from the animal welfare industry with the aim to move towards sustainable practices.
