“Our ambition to be internationally the best in the industry led our drive to get GLOBALG.A.P. certified.”

Gaining recognition by an international certification organization for its efforts in promoting food safety and sustainable agriculture was at the top of TADECO’s list of priorities.

This is a milestone for us. This is something that we’ve undertaken with conviction to pursue because we know that the markets will be asking for this,” said Alexander N. Valoria, President of the premium Cavendish banana producing and exporting company.

Valoria welcomed the certification as it has shown that the company has become at par with the best companies worldwide in food safety and sustainability, environmental protection, and worker occupational safety and health. He also pointed out that the company is committed to doing its best to sustain its high standards in food production.

TADECO achieved GLOBALG.A.P. Certification after it passed the stringent certification audit that Control Union Certifications (CUC) conducted. CUC, another independent, internationally operating certification body that carries out inspections and issues certificates, is the leading certification body for GLOBALG.A.P. Certification in the Philippines.

Coen Everts, CUC Philippines country manager, said banana companies need to get GLOBALG.A.P. Certification if they want to expand their business to international markets.

GLOBALG.A.P. is now being recognized by all the major players in the banana industry as the farm management certification that needs to be put in place if you want to cater to the large markets, particularly Japan. So all the large companies have adopted GLOBALG.A.P. and I’m glad that TADECO is one of those,” said Everts.

Before the GLOBALG.A.P. Certification, TADECO also received Philippine Good Agricultural Practices (PhilGAP) certifications for two consecutive years.

A subsidiary of the Anflocor Group of Companies, TADECO is one of the leading producers and exporters of fresh Cavendish bananas to Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, Russia, China and Middle East.
