Rise in International Market Demand for GLOBALG.A.P. Certified Hungarian Products

On 16 February 2016 the GLOBALG.A.P. National Technical Working Group Hungary together with Control Union Hungary organized a GLOBALG.A.P. Conference in Szigetszentmiklós, near Budapest. 140 participants attended the successful event, which brought together individual producers, representatives of producer groups, consultants, experts, and certification bodies from all over the country.

The conference provided an overview of the key changes and documentation requirements in the Integrated Farm Assurance Standard (IFA) Version 5 compared to IFA Version 4 to those already certified as well as future partners seeking a GLOBALG.A.P. IFA and/or Chain of Custody CoC Certification.

The active participation of the delegates clearly showed that the number of producers and producer groups seeking certified status is on the rise, as international market demand for GLOBALG.A.P. certified products from Hungary is growing.

Speakers representing various certification bodies in the country gave a detailed review of the changes. In a series of presentations, invited specialists shared their expertise on related issues such as risk analysis, laboratory tests and sampling.

The program ended with a session meeting during which participants could discuss specific issues and concerns on a certification body level. The scope and number of questions revealed that there is a high demand for farm assurance consultation in the country.

Given the substantial changes in IFA V5, certification bodies and the NTWG now play a greater role in connecting with growers in the country and informing them of the benefits of GLOBALG.A.P. Certification.
