A GLOBALG.A.P. Farm Assurer Workshop was organized by the IQC (Integrated Quality Consulting) and took place in late November 2017 in Shanghai, China. Two days of in-house and one day of on-site farm training were offered.

Mr. Zhou Xin, the GLOBALG.A.P. country representative for China, gave detailed training on GLOBALG.A.P. certification. General regulations, control points and compliance criteria, and a case study demonstrating the systematic and modularized approach of the Integrated Farm Assurance Standard were part of the thorough training. The participants came from diverse backgrounds and included retailers, a quality control company, farms, and foreign enterprises.

GLOBALG.A.P. trained and approved Farm Assurers provide guidance to help producers implement best practices for the agriculture industry. With first-hand knowledge of the GLOBALG.A.P. system and current industry information, they make the standard easier to understand and help simplify audit preparations. There are a total of 104 Farm Assurers around the world, of which four are located in China. The workshop attendants have all passed the required exam and assessment, and are currently in the application process to become Farm Assurers. This will enable them to help Chinese farmers achieve GLOBALG.A.P. certification.

IQC and GLOBALG.A.P. will continue to cooperate closely in the future and hold more workshops in China. More Chinese Farm Assurers are expected to become certified in the near future.
