GLOBALG.A.P. Community Newsletter Logo

Dear Colleague,

Greetings from Brussels and the Seafood Global 2015 where we presented another milestone in our global push for collaboration to reduce audit duplication: GLOBALG.A.P. and the two other leading aquaculture certification programs announced their readiness to pilot streamlined joint audits. To my knowledge, this is the first example of three large programs having developed such a pragmatic approach. I am certain that this can serve as another good role model for creating synergies for an entire industry without losing the potential for innovation and differentiation. As an example, please see the joint audit pilots with ASC below.

Also in April, our second round of public consultation for our crops and aquaculture standards was completed, where we received more than 500 comments. Please take a look at the first round of consultations for livestock and our benchmarking regulations here.

2015 is the revision year for our Integrated Farm Assurance Standard (IFA), and we are busy scheduling a large number of new training opportunities to get updated on IFA Version 5. Do check out the dates for training events in your region soon before they’re booked out. To get an idea of what to expect, read a report of a successful GLOBALG.A.P. training we recently conducted in Uzbekistan.

More than 10 locations for our TOUR 2015 series have been confirmed, and we are still adding more stops. The kick-off will be in Almeria, Spain, next month on 28-29 May, in the cradle of GLOBALG.A.P., where EurepGAP began. We will welcome a number of GLOBALG.A.P. Board members who will be attending the event. Check out the details here.

At our TOUR stop in Cape Town on 12 August we will hear a report about the successful localg.a.p. assessment conducted on a farmer coop in South Africa, and why the retailer Pick n Pay supported it. See the first report below. We have also included a profile of a new supplier member in Romania: Ferma Stoian. Read why they became a GLOBALG.A.P. member.

Looking forward to seeing you at one of our TOUR 2015 stops!

Best regards,
Kristian Moeller
