GLOBALG.A.P. Community Newsletter Logo

Dear Colleague,

Greetings from Cologne.

February has been a very positive month featuring the strengthening of key partnerships and re-engagements with stakeholders. This month’s edition of our community newsletter reveals Musgrave Ireland’s goals for rejoining GLOBALG.A.P. as a retail member, and how we were able to report tangible progress within our partnerships, in particular with SAN/Rainforest Alliance and Netherlands-based MPS Milieu Programma Sierteelt.
We were honored to have Rainforest Alliance as a partner at our Fruit Logistica booth this year. You can view impressions from our most important annual produce trade show here.

With our record growth in 2015, our 15th year of farm certification, and the launch of the new Version 5 of our Integrated Farm Assurance Standard, we have become a valuable partner for joint projects with our USA-based members Whole Foods Market and Driscoll Strawberry Associates. Please see the presentation held at our annual Fruit Logistica News Conference in Berlin.

This month we also focused on the seafood market at the Fish International fair in Bremerhaven, Germany, in particular regarding the increased need for more comprehensive consumer communication and education. We are keen to see whether this trend continues at the upcoming major aquaculture events Seafood Expo North America in March and the Global Seafood Expo Brussels in April.

We just returned from Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, where we were invited to hold a plenary update session on the Declaration of Abu Dhabi for Global Food Security through Good Agricultural Practice. The Global Forum for Innovation in Agriculture GFIA has again proven to be a hub for ideas and initiatives, which we are carefully exploring in preparation of our SUMMIT 2016 conference in Amsterdam in September: The Future of Farm Certification. Be sure to take advantage of our special member SUMMIT 2016 registration offers.

Save the date and stay connected with GLOBALG.A.P.:

Best Regards,

Kristian Moeller
