Dear Colleague,

Remember when the first smartphone was introduced 20 years ago? A breakthrough innovation that made the Internet mobile and forever transformed the way we communicate. And today? It is as ubiquitous and ordinary as an on-off switch. Today, we talk of the Internet of Things, how data gathered quietly from machines and tools in our surroundings can be used to improve our environments without us doing a thing.

Twenty years ago, European retailers introduced the concept of Good Agricultural Practices certification, a breakthrough system that helped us increase food safety and mitigate risks. Over the years G.A.P. certification has expanded to cover traceability, environmental sustainability, worker safety, and animal welfare. However, farm certification has yet to take full advantage of the technological advances offered by digitization, cloud storage, and big data.

But can big data offer additional capacity  and flexibility to the established auditor system in the private sector? And if so, how? Can big data and predictive analytics actually prevent high risk events from occurring? This is just one of the key topics we’ll be exploring at our SUMMIT 2016 conference in Amsterdam. Find out more about our program  and speakers at

Exclusive for our SUMMIT 2016 delegates, our SUMMIT2016 mobile app will help you maximize your experience of “The Future of Farm Certification” in Amsterdam on 27-28 September. For those of you who have already registered, you can download it here.
We used our smartphone to broadcast live the drawing of the winner of our GLOBALG.A.P. Photo Contest. View it here.
