GLOBALG.A.P. Community Newsletter Logo

Dear Colleague,

Greetings from IPM Essen, the world’s leading horticultural trade fair! We are holding a stakeholder consultation at IPM to hear the views of our members and partners on GLOBALG.A.P.’s future role in the flowers and ornamentals sector.

This feedback will serve as valuable input for the first meetings of our newly elected Technical Committees. I wish to welcome all the volunteers who have pledged their commitment to serve the industry for a new term of four years. Take a look at our new committee structure and see who will have a say in the technical issues of all our scopes: Crops including horticulture, Livestock, Aquaculture and GRASP.

In addition, we are currently planning the first meeting of our newly appointed GLOBALG.A.P. Focus Group on Crops for Processing (CfP) in February. The focus group’s first task will be to fine-tune the Crops for Processing Standard draft for the second round of public consultation in February/March.

We begin 2016 with an innovation: The GLOBALG.A.P. Industry Rewards Program - GRIP. We have introduced a system by which individuals can collect and redeem status and reward points for their contributions, such as committee participation. Reward Points can be redeemed for our SUMMIT 2016 Conference on 27-28 September in Amsterdam, where we will celebrate our anniversary and another round of finalists of our G.A.P. Awards 2016, as well as discuss the future of certification.

Our GLOBALG.A.P. TOUR will continue in this SUMMIT year, so be sure to bookmark to find out where and when we might be in your region to inform you about the latest developments of the transition to the Integrated Farm Assurance Standard Version 5.

Other developments in our global community that took place in the final months of 2015:
  • Our new member Spinneys held a news conference in Abu Dhabi and explained how its sourcing policy is going to rely on GLOBALG.A.P. Certification in produce.
  • Walmart Brazil announced the requirement of GLOBALG.A.P. Certification for its fruit & vegetable suppliers.
Our upcoming 2016 events to help you stay connected with GLOBALG.A.P.:
  • 29 January 2016: Mexico-Road Show starts with Dia informativo in Guadalajara. Local Partner: Grupo Rosmar
  • 3-5 February 2016: FRUIT LOGISTICA trade fair in Berlin, Germany with co-exhibitors: Agrocolor, Blue Moon Ltd., Rainforest Alliance and Tecnidex. Come and visit us in Hall 5.2, Booth A-06!
