Chinese Retail Platform Tmall Fresh (Alibaba Group) Starts Sourcing Products from GLOBALG.A.P. Certified Producers

Tmall Fresh and GLOBALG.A.P. jointly announce their recently founded partnership. From now on, Tmall Fresh, which is operated by Alibaba Group, will source fresh produce from GLOBALG.A.P. certified producers.

The online retailer will enable the products to reach China’s vast and growing consumer market. is seen by many as a destination for quality, brand-name goods catering to increasingly sophisticated Chinese consumers and is the most visited b2c online retail website in the world.

SCS Global Services (SCS), a long-time GLOBALG.A.P. member, has taken significant steps to streamline its auditing services for customers seeking certification under both the SCS Sustainably Grown V2.1 and GLOBALG.A.P. IFA V5 programs. Agricultural production operations can now more efficiently obtain both certificates from a single audit, saving time and money.

GLOBALG.A.P. Planning Introduction of Online Consumer Portal for Certified Flowers and Ornamentals in Summer 2017

At this year's IPM, GLOBALG.A.P. presented its plans to launch an online consumer portal for flowers and ornamentals from certified horticulture businesses around the world.

The GLOBALG.A.P. Standard for flowers and ornamentals is today already successfully implemented by horticultural companies in more than 30 countries and independently controlled on a yearly basis.

GLOBALG.A.P. Benchmarking News

BOPP Grower Standard has successfully finalized re-benchmarking and has got recognition as a resembling scheme. It is a flowers & ornamentals standard for certification of individual producers in the United Kingdom. For those producers who need recognition as equivalent the scheme owner British Ornamental Plant Producers (BOPP) Certification Scheme developped a supplement to bridge the gap.

Marco Villegas has a Chemical degree, postgraduate in Quality Systems and Master in Engineering of Quality at the “Universidad Iberoamericana México”. 14 years ago he became involved in the agrifood industry through innovation projects at the “Fundación Produce Puebla“, Mexico. Through these projects he identified the need to implement good agricultural practices (GAP) under a management system approach to maintain the competitiveness of the agrifood export industry.
