Online Soon: Consumer Portal for Flowers and Ornamental Plants to start in Germany

A flower says more than a thousand words. But it reveals nothing about its actual origin. In order to help consumers find out more about the respective origins, GLOBALG.A.P. is expanding the GGN.ORG consumer portal on 6 July 2017 to include flowers and ornamental plants.

Consumers will then be able to easily inform themselves by entering the GLOBALG.A.P. Number (GGN) to find out more about the origin of their flower or ornamental plant.

The GLOBALG.A.P. TOUR stop Japan with 100 delegates was organized by Agri Incubator K.K. & GAP Extension Organization Inc. and took place on 23 May 2017 in Nagoya City. GLOBALG.A.P. was honored to be handed the opportunity of giving lectures to major players in agribusiness who gathered at the AG/SUM, the Agritech SUMMIT, from 23 to 25 May in Tokyo, Japan.

Marine Fish Aquaculture Export Workshops in Malaysia and The Philippines

The US Soybean Export Council (USSEC) hosted a series of workshops in Asia during the month of May 2017. At two of these workshops GLOBALG.A.P. had the opportunity to share with the audience the advances in the GLOBALG.A.P. Aquaculture Certification System. Mr. Isidor Yu, GLOBALG.A.P. Farm Assurer for Crops and Aquaculture, presented in Kuala Lumpur and Manila.

Will Blockchain Technology be Disruptive for Certification?

Kristian Moeller, CEO GLOBALG.A.P., organized a panel at the IFAMA 2017 International Conference in Miami on and discussed the potential impacts of blockchain on food supply chains. Blockchain technology makes use of new technologies including distributed databases that allows to store data in the cloud that cannot be manipulated once captured.

Successful Tour Stop Bangladesh

On 18 May 2017, GLOBALG.A.P. made a stop on its global tour to promote good agricultural practices in one of the world’s most densely populated cities and countries: Dhaka/Bangladesh. The event was organized together with the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and facilitated by USAID’s Feed the Future Bangladesh Agricultural Value Chain Project.

What is your current task at GLOBALG.A.P.?
I am currently primarily responsible for Integrity Assessments as part of CIPRO. These assessments are conducted by CB offices to individual producers and producer groups. At the same time, I also carry out trainings with regard to GLOBALG.A.P. IFA, BayGAP, etc. and participate at various GLOBALG.A.P. venues.
