SCS Global Services

SCS is an international leader in third-party certification and standards development in environmental, sustainability, and food safety and quality performance claims. SCS is a GLOBALG.A.P. approved Certification Body based in Emeryville, California. Here's what they had to share with us in a recent interview:

GGNA: In April, you generously hosted an IHT training for our North America CBs, what were some benefits to hosting this training?

SCS: By hosting, we were able to have multiple auditors and staff conveniently attend trainings, providing greather exposure to our team. IHT trainings by GGNA are the best you can get!

GGNA: Thank you for your participation in the Produce Handling Assurance (PHA) pilot, and your efforts to help us get PHA GFSI-recognized. Why was it important for SCS to offer PHA to your clients?

SCS: Farmers have been looking for a straightforward standard that would meet their buyers' requirements for their facilities. The PHA standard meets that need and is far more appropriate for growers doing simple handling and packing compared to GMP standards designed for processing and ready to eat products. So far the feedback from our PHA clients has been very positive, especially in regards to the efficiencies gained by those already signed up for IFA or HPSS farm audits.

GGNA: SCS also offers GLOBALG.A.P. trainings, can you tell us what you have planned for the rest of the year?

SCS: We have a two day in-person IFA training for March 2nd & 3rd 2020 in Fresno CA. We also have self-paced training in both English & Spanish available on-line:
