The second public consultation period for the new Produce Handling Assurance Standard is now open!

GLOBALG.A.P. is pleased to introduce its new standard for packing houses that is applicable to North American packing operations (USA, Canada, Mexico, and Caribbean only) and open-shed packing sites worldwide. We have received overwhelming affirmation of the need for an integrated GLOBALG.A.P. solution that can extend to independent packing houses and covers the requirements of GFSI, FSMA, and major retailers. The new standard will not apply to processing.

PHA Standard sets minimum requirements for management of food safety

The Produce Handling Assurance (PHA) Standard sets minimum requirements for the management of food safety of parties seeking certification. The standard sets current good manufacturing practices, hazard analysis and preventive controls, traceability and segregation, and assesses overall food safety management system practices. This includes supplier management, management of food safety related incidents, and additional requirements for the site, personnel, and production practices.

Consultation with key members of the industry

During the development phase of the PHA Standard, the GLOBALG.A.P. standards team consulted with key members of the industry and received recommendations from a technical focus group. As a stakeholder-focused organization, the final step to ensure that the standard is in keeping with industry needs is to incorporate your input and feedback. Please consider offering your thoughts and recommendations for our new standard during our second four-week public consultation period open through Friday, 10 August 2018.

To review the general regulations and control points of the standard, please visit our Public Consultation web page. Please insert your comments directly into the documents or fill out the Standard Comments Form and send them to publiccomments@globalgap.org.

We look forward to hearing from you, and thank you in advance for assisting the GLOBALG.A.P. team in shaping an effective solution for the post-harvest handling of produce.
