Hosted by Grupo Rosmar, the 14th NTWG was held in Mexico City, Mexico, on 23 February 2017.

The meeting was the first of its kind in 2017 and attended by more than 22 people representing 19 of the most important organizations in the Mexican agricultural sector including APEAM (avocados), EMEX (mangos), Driscoll's (berries), Grupo U (vegetables), Sun Belle (berries), and a number of certification bodies.

One of the objectives of this meeting was the revision of the IFA Version 5 National Interpretation Guideline (NIG), in which a main objective is to avoid contradiction or confusion in interpretation of compliance criteria for each of the requirements of the scheme. The NTWG also agreed to review and translate the GLOBALG.A.P. Guide and Self-Assessment for compliance with the FSMA Produce Safety Rule. Furthermore, the NIG GRASP 1.3 working group for Mexico was established.

GLOBALG.A.P. members have set up NTWGs in several countries. They help to adopt GLOBALG.A.P.’s universal Standard on a local scale. NTWGs identify specific local adaptation and implementation challenges and develop guidelines, known as National Interpretation Guidelines. The working groups are also a valuable source of qualified information for GLOBALG.A.P. Their national networks of experts and stakeholders provide extensive knowledge about the different legal and structural conditions that exist around the world. The NTWGs work in close cooperation with the GLOBALG.A.P. Secretariat and the Technical Committees, which approve the guidelines developed by this growing number of groups.
