ICFA has partnered with GLOBALG.A.P. as the new Country Partner India. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Cologne between Dr Kristian Moeller, CEO of GLOBALG.A.P., and Dr M. J. Khan, Chairman of ICFA.
Huge opportunities in India
On signing the country partner agreement, Dr Khan said that India was committed to doubling
its agro exports over the next three years from its current level of $30 billion, in line with the
Prime Minister’s commitment, and that GAP certification held the key to achieving this objective. “
The signature of this MoU marks the beginning of our great partnership”, said Dr Khan, adding that
India offers huge opportunities in GAP certifications, since it’s the world’s second largest
producer of agricultural commodities. Given its focus on exports and the fast-growing demand for
safe and nutritious food in India, this partnership will bring about transformational changes in
Indian agriculture towards achieving quality production with best global practices and access to
global markets by Indian farmers.
Milestone towards safe food
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Moeller, CEO GLOBALG.A.P. said “We’re excited about new
opportunities in India through this partnership, which we expect will lead to similar opportunities
for all our existing stakeholders in the country and in Asia as a region. Another milestone ahead
for us on our journey towards
Every Generation has a right to safe food.”
