With more than 25 years dedicated to the farming and marketing of seabream and seabass, the Spanish producer Culmárex has achieved GLOBALG.A.P. Aquaculture Certification for its good aquaculture practices along its entire chain of production, from broodstock to packaged product.

Established in 1986, the Culmárex Group operates one hatchery, 11 marine farms spread out along the south east coast of Spain, and a packaging plant in Águilas, Murcia, where the Group’s headquarters are also based.

Aquicultura Balear, the Culmárex Group hatchery in Palma de Mallorca, that produces Seabream (Sparus aurata) and Seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax) fry, is the only private capital aquaculture company in the Balearic Islands, and the largest hatchery in Spain of juveniles of these species and one of the largest in the Mediterranean.

Achieving GLOBALG.A.P. Aquaculture Certification is an integral part of the Group’s quality and traceability policy. The Group works continually on enhancing and improving its Integrated Management System, which establishes, describes, processes and documents the different methods and ways of working at all production levels. In addition, since August 2004, Culmárex guarantees full traceability of all its products, with a management system, hazard analysis, critical points, hygiene, and labeling according to the national regulations.

The Group also invests in various research and development projects on a national level and in collaboration with other companies and research centers to improve their products and processes.

The Culmárex hatchery, fish farms and products also hold Friend of the Sea Certification, demonstrating the environmental sustainability of the Group’s activities, as well as their adherence to national quality standards required for raising sea bream and sea bass.
