The GGN Label Portal for Certified Aquaculture
and Certified Floriculture
The GGN label can be used with aquaculture and floriculture products that come from GLOBALG.A.P.
certified production processes. The label works with the GLOBALG.A.P. Number (GGN), a 13-digit
identification number assigned to each producer or producer group with a GLOBALG.A.P. certified
production process.
Using the GGN printed together with the GGN label logo on the product packaging, consumers can
learn more about the farms that have produced the GLOBALG.A.P. certified products at
www.ggn.org
The website also explains what good aquaculture and floriculture practices are and how the farms
with GLOBALG.A.P. certified production processes implement them. This direct line between the
consumer and the original producer forms the basis of a chain of trust in food production.

How the GGN Label Works – A Holistic Approach
The GGN label follows a holistic approach. Our aim is to
create trust
and transparency on two levels:
On the level of food and plant production, and on the level of certification.
On the level of production, the GGN label is based on the following
foundation:
- The
GLOBALG.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) standard, which ensures that
production processes on the farms operate under responsible farming practices that cover food
safety, sustainability, environmental protection, animal welfare, and supply chain
transparency.
All aquaculture products with the GGN label are certified in accordance with the
GLOBALG.A.P. Aquaculture standard.
All floriculture products with the GGN label are certified in accordance with the
GLOBALG.A.P. Flowers & Ornamentals standard.
- All producers must also demonstrate social responsibility by having a
GRASP assessment (GLOBALG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Practice) with full compliance status.
- Packers, traders, and retailers using the GGN label on products from IFA-certified production
processes must also demonstrate supply chain traceability using the
GLOBALG.A.P. Chain of Custody standard.
- In addition, certified aquaculture producers must source their fish feed from only those
manufacturers that are certified against the
GLOBALG.A.P. Compound Feed Manufacturing standard, which ensures that the feed
they produce follows strict food safety guidelines.
On the level of certification, the
GLOBALG.A.P. Certification Integrity Program, the first of its kind in food
certification, has built-in monitoring and controlling mechanisms to make sure that the farms and
the certification bodies are implementing the standard in line with good agricultural and business
practices.
And because the entire certification process is transparent as well, the transparency we require
from our producers is transferred to the GGN label and onto the consumer.
