GLOBALG.A.P. and SAI Platform have partnered up to offer an innovative approach that benefits
from the expertise and long experience of both organizations. Together, we have developed the joint
solution GLOBALG.A.P. Farm Sustainability Assessment add-on (GGFSA).
GGFSA builds on the GLOBALG.A.P. standards for crops (Integrated Farm Assurance and Crops for
Processing) and combines all sustainability requirements of the FSA in one compact and assessable
standard. In this way, producers with GLOBALG.A.P. certification will be able to demonstrate
compliance with the FSA requirements while avoiding duplication. This joint solution enables a
transparent and more efficient sourcing of safe and sustainable products for traders, retailers,
and manufacturers.
You can download the GGFSA normative documents on the right.
Important updates:
- GGFSA v3.0 allows producers to cover the requirements of FSA 3.0 and achieve FSA recognition (Bronze, Silver, or Gold) via a single audit process of IFA or Crops for Processing and the GGFSA add-on.
- GGFSA version 3.0 replaces GGFSA v2.1 as of 1 May 2023 As in v2.1, GGFSA 3.0 has a three-year certification cycle and a certificate is valid for three years.
- GGFSA 3.0 may be audited in combination with IFA v5 for as long as IFA v5 continues to be valid. Once IFA v5 is replaced by IFA v6, GGFSA must be audited in combination with IFA v6.
- As part of the revision process for developing GGFSA 3.0, a benchmarking procedure was conducted to compare FSA 3.0 with IFA v6. The FSA requirements which are not fully covered by IFA v6 guided the development of the 28 GGFSA principles.
- Thanks to the benchmarking process, there is now an additional way for GLOBALG.A.P. certified producers to make an FSA claim: if a producer holds a certificate for IFA v6 (excluding the product category of flowers and ornamentals) and GRASP v2, they can already claim the FSA performance level Silver, without needing a GGFSA audit. This is an FSA benchmarking claim is based on the similarities established between the content of both schemes during the benchmarking procedure. Nevertheless, any claims to an FSA performance level must observe SAI Platform’s Guide to making FSA Statements and claims (file available in the SAI Platform Resource Centre). Any producers wishing to demonstrate Gold level claims must undergo the GGFSA audit.
