The certification body AGFOCERT is proud to announce that the Turkish Yapagili Cooperative has become the the first fish farm in the world to become certified against GLOBALG.A.P. Aquaculture Version 5.0. The cooperative was founded in Afyonkarahisar province, in Dinar county, in the village of Yapagili in 1994 and currently employs 60 staff in a total area of 25,000 sqm, producing and processing 1,200 tons per year.

Furthermore, the first-ever business from Bosnia-Herzigovina has now also been certified by AGFOCERT against GLOBALG.A.P. Aquaculture Version 5.0. SLAP Ltd. (Slap = Waterfall) is 100% owned by Muhamed Tabakovic and was founded in 2005. The fishery is located at the confluence of the Drina and Zepa rivers, and has a capacity of 90 tons per year. The business includes a hatchery as well as a modern fish processing plant for rainbow and brown trout. In 2014 SLAP opened its new branch in Austria in order to export fish to Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic.

 AGFO is an abbreviation for Agriculture and Food. AGFOCERT is a certification body which has been operating in Turkey since 2005 and provides a range of certifification services in different countries. AGFOCERT has experienced agriculture, aquaculture, food and veterinary experts among its staff, and has established a laboratory which is specialised in benthic fauna analyses. This new service is called AGFOLAB and the company is currently preparing to receive ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation for this scope.
