Interview with FoodChain ID

Why is GLOBALG.A.P. important to FoodChain ID?

FoodChain ID views GLOBALG.A.P. as a key partner in our business. We are excited to help GLOBALG.A.P. reach new audiences to advance food safety and social responsibility as the world’s leading farm assurance program. The GLOBALG.A.P. standards are well suited to satisfy the certification requirements for producers.

What is your GLOBALG.A.P. story?

FoodChain ID Certification (former CERT ID) first became accredited to offer GLOBALG.A.P. certification services to producers in 2014. We have since been fortunate to quickly grow the FoodChain ID GLOBALG.A.P. portfolio. We now offer a range of GLOBALG.A.P. certification standards, sub-scopes and add-ons to both individual producers as well as producer groups across the US.

What GLOBALG.A.P. IFA v6 improvements are you hoping for?

GLOBALG.A.P. has a history as an ally to the producer by offering certification programs where producers are allowed step-by-step, incremental improvements to fulfill market requirements.

It is our hope with the implementation of IFA v6 that the same process will continue. We also assume GLOBALG.A.P. standards will continue as science-based in requirements.

Astrid Goplen, FoodChain ID and GLOBALG.A.P. North America:

Astrid Goplen has been the FoodChain ID GLOBALG.A.P. Scheme Manager since 2014. Astrid has a decades-long involvement with the US fresh produce industries and a passion for helping ensure producers - whatever the farm size, location and products produced - with access to the tools and programs needed to connect to vital markets. In her role as GLOBALG.A.P. Scheme Manager for FoodChain ID, Astrid has a productive and close working relationship with GLOBALG.A.P. North America. The relationship has allowed FoodChain ID to be an early adopter of new GLOBALG.A.P. sub-scopes and standards, including the GLOBALG.A.P. IFA Hop sub-scope, FSMA PSR Add-on, GLOBALG.A.P. Harmonized Produce Safety Standard (HPSS) and most recently the GLOBALG.A.P. Produce Handling Assurance Standard (PHA).

We are also excited to announce our additional support for the GLOBAL.G.A.P. program from our new Technical Manager, Wendi Jennings.
