Immokalee, Florida-based Lipman Produce Company, North America’s largest open field tomato grower, recently became a member of GLOBALG.A.P.

Food safety compliance is of the utmost importance to Lipman. A tremendous amount of resources are invested to ensure that the company’s produce is safe – from seed to delivery. To be compliant with set requirements, Lipman utilizes NSF Agriculture to audit GLOBALG.A.P. standards across its entire line of fresh produce growing and packing operations. The company is utilizing GLOBALG.A.P.’s Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) and Produce Safety Standard (PSS), and was the first producer to be audited against the optional PSS “Tomato Metrics” checklist, an innovative set of additional specialized control points for the tomato industry.

Lipman provides dependable, year-round fresh produce through an integrated network of research/development, farming, packing, repacking and processing with 30 locations throughout North America. Strategically located farms – which total tens of thousands of acres – and a seamless distribution network allow Lipman to provide fresh tomatoes to customers 365 days per year. In addition to tomatoes (including round, cherry, grape and Roma varieties), Lipman also grows peppers, cucumbers, corn, eggplant, watermelon and potatoes.
