The New Zealand G.A.P. GLOBALG.A.P. Equivalent scheme is now officially recognized as equivalent to the GLOBALG.A.P. IFA Standard Version 4 for Fruit & Vegetables under the category Equivalent Scheme.

New Zealand G.A.P. has developed a GLOBALG.A.P. Equivalent Assessment specifically for markets where retailers accept systems equivalent to GLOBALG.A.P., adding additional features to the New Zealand G.A.P. used domestically. To date, 82 individual producers are certified against this particular scheme.

New Zealand G.A.P. is the new name of the New Zealand Fresh Produce Approved Supplier Programme. Since its launch in 1999, it has become one of New Zealand’s largest quality assurance programs covering 80% of all New Zealand domestically grown and marketed fresh produce. It was developed to address consumer concerns relating to food safety, the environment and quality assurance issues as well as
fulfill growers’ demands for an efficient, cost effective management and production system that removed the need for multiple auditors. Benchmarking against GLOBALG.A.P. is part of its strategy to expand its reach beyond New Zealand and open up more global markets for the country’s fruit and vegetable producers.
