GLOBALG.A.P. Licensed Farm Assurer Application Process

Step 1

Applicant sends online application:

Step 2

GLOBALG.A.P. checks application. If Applicant fulfilled all qualification requirements, GLOBALG.A.P. invoices Farm Assurer License Fee and sends License Agreement.

Step 3

Applicant submits License Fee and signed License Agreement.

Step 4

GLOBALG.A.P. countersigns License Agreement and publishes Farm Assurer company data and profile(s) of licensed Farm Assurer consultants, Farm Assurer gets access to all Farm Assurer benefits.

Requirements to become a GLOBALG.A.P. Licensed Farm Assurer

Control Point 1: Formal Qualifications (mandatory)

A post high school diploma in a discipline related to the scope of certification (Crops and/or Livestock and/or Aquaculture) and 2 years of practical work experience at farm level as an employee or at own/family farm in the relevant sub-scope.
OR
3 years of practical work experience at farm level as an employee or at own/family farm in the relevant sub-scope after qualification (full-time equivalence), in case of a high-school diploma not related to the scope of certification.

Required documents: Post high school diploma, Curriculum Vitae, resume of notes 

Control Point 2: Experience in consultancy work (mandatory)

Experience in consultancy work in the agri-food sector with a duration of minimum 1 year.

Required documents: Three reference letters with at least the following information:

  • Place, date
  • Name of the contracted person
  • Name of the company
  • Name of the client
  • Working time period
  • Specific work details e.g.: consulting on avocado plantation, standards implementation, pesticide application etc.
  • Evaluation of work: good, satisfactory, etc.
  • Name of the client
  • Signature
Control Point 3: HACCP Principles (mandatory)

Certificate of participation in a formal course (minimum 8 hrs duration) or as part of formal qualifications (post high school education)

Required documents: Course certificate incl. content and duration or resume of notes

Control Point 4: Food/Feed Hygiene Training (mandatory)

Certificate of participation in a formal course (minimum 8 hrs duration) or as part of formal qualifications (post high school education)

The Food Hygiene training shall cover site management, water, fertilizer, equipment, facilities and personal hygiene, and it shall also include practical case studies.

Required documents: Course certificate incl. content and duration or resume of notes

Control Point 5: G.A.P. Principles (mandatory)

Certificate of participation in a formal course or as part of formal qualifications (post high school education)

  • for Aquaculture: basic veterinary principles and stockmanship training; basic experience in food processing
  • for Crops:
    • Plant protection training including: phytopathology, pest diagnostics, toxicity of products, application equipment (management and maintenance), MRL and food safety. It could also include IPM
    • IPM training as specific training or included as part of a plant protection management training
    • Fertilizer training including: plant nutrition principles and analysis, soil management, fertilizer management, equipment (management and maintenance)
  • for Livestock: basic veterinary principles and stockmanship training

Control Point 6: GLOBALG.A.P. Training (mandatory)

Participation in official GLOBALG.A.P. Farm Assurer Workshop with practical day and exam.  Here you can find our workshop list.

Control Point 7: Auditing Practice (voluntary)

Auditing practice (as third-party auditor) in ISO 9000, ISO 14000, ISO 22000, OSHAS 18000, BRC Food, IFS Food, previous GLOBALG.A.P. Option 2 or 4 audits, or producer group audits of organic growers or others.

Required document: Audit log/certificate

Control Point 8: Training / Presentation Skills (voluntary)

Experience as trainer and/or in giving presentations

Control Point 9: Language Skills (mandatory)

Language skills in the corresponding native/working language. This must include the locally used specialist terminology
