Dole’s commitment to the wellbeing of their farm employees is raising the bar for other producers in the industry and in the region. “We’re happy to announce that Dole has now become fully GRASP-compliant on their banana farms in the Philippines.

“It’s gratifying that a leading company in the banana industry like Dole has taken the lead in obtaining GLOBALG.A.P. certification and becoming fully compliant with GRASP in the Philippines,” said GLOBALG.A.P. Managing Director Dr Kristian Moeller. “We trust this achievement will encourage more companies in the region to utilize GLOBALG.A.P.’s solutions to promote responsible production, taking food safety, worker welfare, and environmental sustainability into consideration, and that they will demonstrate this commitment to consumers by adopting our GGN label.

GRASP supports the people behind our food

The GLOBALG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Practice (GRASP) is a tool that farms certified under our flagship Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) standard can elect as an additional assessment to evaluate, improve, and demonstrate their commitment to worker wellbeing.

Dole believes that treating their workers right makes for better produce. “Great products start with amazing people,” states the About Us section of the Dole website. “That’s why we work tirelessly to continuously improve the lives and livelihoods of our farmers and workers, offering competitive wages, substantial benefits, and safe work environments. At Dole, we believe that happy hands always grow the most delicious produce.”
