Five reasons to choose GLOBALG.A.P.

GLOBALG.A.P. certification is widely trusted as a sourcing requirement for many major supply chains worldwide.

A GLOBALG.A.P. certificate can help you demonstrate your safer, more responsible production practices in a global marketplace and present opportunities for accessing new supply chains.

Image of a producer in a greenhouse conducting a self-assessment

GLOBALG.A.P. standards are designed by sector experts and consulted publicly, giving stakeholders the chance to submit feedback.

This process results in standards that are robust and science-based, yet lean and fit for purpose – with practical implementation and farm realities at the forefront.

The GLOBALG.A.P. Advisory Board, with an equal number of members from producer/supplier and retail/food service backgrounds, is responsible for adopting the standards.

Image of a vegetable producer in a field at sunset checking plant growth

The GLOBALG.A.P. Secretariat operates a range of harmonization activities that aim to reduce duplication for producers. This is achieved primarily through add-ons to core solutions that can widen the scope of a single audit.

Our benchmarking activities can also help to minimize the number of audits required of you by recognizing other schemes as equivalent to GLOBALG.A.P. standards and add-ons.

Image of a certification body auditor preparing to conduct an on-site audit

GLOBALG.A.P. standards are widely recognized in global supply chains, but worldwide standards are only effective if they also consider local practicalities.

GLOBALG.A.P. national technical working groups exist to review local challenges to the implementation of GLOBALG.A.P. standards and develop guidelines (national interpretation guidelines) for how best to implement the standards where you are.

We understand that the journey to certification can be challenging.

Our extensive capacity building activities – including training courses from the Academy, maintaining a trusted network of Registered Trainers, participating in capacity-building projects, and collaborating on TOUR stops – present a range of opportunities for you to connect with GLOBALG.A.P. experts and find help along the way.

GLOBALG.A.P. IFA certification has helped us establish a management system that allows us to improve our processes, comply beyond national regulations, and implement the strictest quality standards.
