About Sustainabloom

Sustainabloom is an industry-wide initiative supporting education and advancements in floriculture sustainability created by the American Floral Endowment (AFE).

Sustainabloom was developed to be a “resource hub” for industry members by creating user-friendly guides and resources all accessible on their website. In addition to the guides, the program provides supplemental resources like links to other services that may be useful in sustainability efforts. Users can find topics and links to government and funding resources, assessment tools, a comprehensive list of certifications, and a glossary of sustainability terms to guide them along their journey.

Sustainabloom’s goal is to inspire and support businesses in fostering a culture that strives towards ever-more sustainable practices in the floriculture industry.

About the American Floral Endowment

The American Floral Endowment (AFE) is an accelerator for floriculture advancement. As a charitable organization, AFE receives donations from all sectors and reinvests them to support funding for research, internships, scholarships, and education for floriculture.

Working together for changing market needs and requirements

As retailers begin to require more assurance about responsible production practices, including certification, GLOBALG.A.P. and Sustainabloom are working parallel to ensure that producers have the knowledge and the resources to meet these growing market needs. Sustainabloom’s mission to lead the floriculture industry towards more sustainable practices at every level in the supply chain is echoed in GLOBALG.A.P.’s commitment to safer and more responsible farming practices.

"GLOBALG.A.P. and Sustainabloom share a deep commitment to providing floriculture sustainability education,” Debi Chedester, the Executive Director of AFE expresses. “This partnership strengthens our ability to provide industry professionals with the tools, research, and support needed to navigate sustainability challenges and create lasting change."

"Roberta Anderson, President of GLOBALG.A.P North America, shares similar sentiment. "We are delighted to welcome AFE’s Sustainabloom into our GLOBALG.A.P. community. As we educate growers in North American about our certification solution for the flowers and ornamentals industry, Sustainabloom offers many resources to support growers in meeting certification requirements and improving their operations.”
