Capacity building
Registered Trainer program
Registered Trainers are independent farming experts who are supported by the GLOBALG.A.P. Secretariat to train producers and other interested parties on the implementation of our standards and add-ons. With first-hand knowledge of the GLOBALG.A.P. system, Registered Trainers are a key component of our capacity-building activities.
Practical guidance on standard implementation
What are Registered Trainers?
Registered Trainers are farming experts who are trained and supported by the GLOBALG.A.P. Secretariat to aid the implementation of our smart farm assurance solutions. With over 300 Registered Trainers covering more than 70 countries, they work mainly with producers to help them understand the GLOBALG.A.P. certification system and navigate the certification or recertification process – playing a major role in promoting safer and more sustainable farming practices around the world.

How can a Registered Trainer help me?
Registered Trainers are trained in a specific GLOBALG.A.P. standard and/or add-on and can answer questions about their contents. They can also break the requirements down into practical steps for implementation at farm level. By the end of a Registered Trainer training, you will understand the requirements that you need to fulfill to achieve GLOBALG.A.P. certification and have a well-rounded understanding of the GLOBALG.A.P. certification system as a whole.
You may find consultants or trainers who offer unofficial assistance with GLOBALG.A.P. standards or add-ons. However, they are not authorized or trained by us, and may have outdated or incorrect knowledge. Only by choosing a Registered Trainer you can be sure to receive the most accurate and up-to-date information on our solutions through an approved training.
Registered Trainers may also provide consultancy and other services. Find a Registered Trainer to see what they offer and get started today.

What are the responsibilities of a Registered Trainer?
Registered Trainers work mainly with producers to help them prepare for and navigate the certification process. This involves leading training on GLOBALG.A.P. smart farm assurance solutions and their implementation at farm level. For example, they can answer questions about standard content and break the requirements down into practical steps to aid understanding.
Registered Trainers work independently – preparing training offers for the GLOBALG.A.P. Registered Trainer catalog, issuing certificates, and participating in webinars to boost their knowledge. In addition, they may offer consulting and other services to producers outside of the training.
The list of Registered Trainers contains public information on the services that they provide.
Who can become a Registered Trainer?
All applicants must attend a GLOBALG.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) course, or a GLOBALG.A.P. in-house trainer (IHT) training if you are working for a certification body (CB).
Following the course/training, applicants sit a proctored exam and must answer at least 80% of the questions in each part correctly to join the program.
Applicants have either three (IFA) or two (IHT) attempts to pass the exam. If you do not pass the exam within the specified number of attempts, you must attend a new IFA course or IHT training before trying again.
Find an upcoming IFA course, or log in to CB-AT to view the certification body training catalog for upcoming IHT trainings.
Five steps to becoming a Registered Trainer
All applicants must first attend an IFA course (for non-CBs) or an IHT training (for CBs). See the GLOBALG.A.P. Academy course catalog, or if you work for a CB, log in to CB-AT to view the certification body training catalog.
Following completion of the course or training, applicants must pass the proctored exam – within three attempts for IFA courses and within two attempts for IHT trainings. A score of 80% or higher in each part is required to join the GLOBALG.A.P. Registered Trainer program.
After successfully passing the exam, applicants must complete the online registration form, including their motivation for joining the GLOBALG.A.P. Registered Trainer program.
The GLOBALG.A.P. Secretariat will confirm the application details, and if they are accepted, send an invoice to the applicants for the program fee (calculated based on active months in the calendar year).
Once we have received the payment, applicants will receive confirmation and login details for the Registered Trainer platform.
How much does it cost?
Joining the Registered Trainer program has two cost elements. All applicants must first attend the IFA course or IHT training and complete the exam. The fee covers the online course/training, including all materials, one proctored exam, and the certificate of attendance. If you do not pass the exam at the first attempt, the second and third attempts cost an additional €100 each.
Registered Trainers also pay an annual program fee. You pay only for active months in the program in the first year. The invoice is issued for the period from the month following registration until the end of the respective calendar year. For the following years, invoices are issued in January for the period January–December.
GLOBALG.A.P. Community Members receive the benefit of one free Registered Trainer application, with each further application consisting of a reduced annual fee of €150.
Annual fee: €490 per year for each Registered Trainer
One-time training fee: Applicants must also pay fees for required trainings/courses. Individuals and non-CB companies can see the GLOBALG.A.P. Academy course catalog for up-to-date IFA course fees. CBs should refer to CB-AT for IHT training fees.
