Biospheres joins the GLOBALG.A.P. Community: Pioneering regenerative agriculture for a sustainable future

Biospheres: A catalyst for regenerative agriculture

Founded in France and now operating across the world, Biospheres has amassed 15 years of experience in regenerative agriculture. With its projects spanning over 100,000 hectares across 20 countries, Biospheres is at the forefront of innovative agricultural practices that not only sustain but actively regenerate ecosystems. In July 2024, Biospheres joined the GLOBALG.A.P. Community as an Associate Member, further solidifying its commitment to sustainability on a global scale.

Innovative solutions for global challenges

Biospheres’ approach to regenerative agriculture is both comprehensive and adaptable, making it a standout in the field. The company’s methodological approach allows it to work with a wide range of sectors, including agri-food, luxury, and territorial management. This versatility has enabled Biospheres to develop agroecology practices tailored to various sectors such as viticulture, arboriculture, field crops, perfume plants, market gardening, and breeding.

One of Biospheres’ most impressive projects is its work in arboriculture in semi-arid zones in Southern Spain, where the company developed techniques to respond to extreme climatic challenges and reconstruct orchard soils in the Mediterranean region.
In another vital project, Biospheres has transformed viticulture practices across Europe and beyond, applying a unique Soil-Plant-Landscape health approach that has set new standards for regenerative farming.

“With regenerative agriculture, we develop farming systems that enable us to produce and restore ecosystems at the same time,” says Sébastien Roumegous, founder & CEO Biosphres. “Biospheres’ day-to-day expertise is expressed through a strategic, technical and pragmatic approach to effectively deploying these practices in the face of the urgent environmental challenges of our time.”

A shared vision for a sustainable future

Biospheres' decision to join the GLOBALG.A.P. community aligns perfectly with its mission to foster sustainability and environmental stewardship. By becoming a member, Biospheres is positioned to collaborate with other industry leaders in driving the continuous improvement of GLOBALG.A.P. standards. This collaboration focuses on essential issues in global value chains such as food safety, environmental responsibility, and supply chain transparency.

Biospheres' integration into the GLOBALG.A.P. community is more than just a membership—it's a partnership aimed at promoting innovative agricultural practices that support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. With its strong commitment to research and development, performance measurement, and education, Biospheres will undoubtedly contribute valuable insights and expertise to the global conversation.

“We are thrilled to welcome Biospheres to the GLOBALG.A.P. Community. Their dedication to regenerative agriculture and sustainable practices aligns perfectly with our efforts to continuously improve global farming standards,” says Elmé Coetzer-Boersma, Managing Director of GLOBALG.A.P. c/o FoodPLUS GmbH. “Together, we can make significant strides in promoting food safety, environmental stewardship, and supply chain transparency on a global scale.”
