FAQ
GLOBALG.A.P. is a brand of smart farm assurance solutions comprising more than 20 standards for safe and responsible production processes in agriculture, aquaculture, and floriculture. Based on a robust third-party certification system, our holistic approach to certification is developed through extensive collaboration with sector experts and now counts more than 200,000 producers in over 130 countries.
A GLOBALG.A.P. Number (GGN) is a unique 13-digit identification number given to every producer or producer group registered for certification. When the production process on the farm is successfully certified, the producer can print this number on product packaging for traceability in the supply chain. The number identifies where and by whom the product was produced, and buyers can use it to verify their suppliers in the GLOBALG.A.P. IT systems.
Retailers and buyers across the globe require standards that promote safe, socially and environmentally responsible production processes. GLOBALG.A.P. certification is one of the most widely implemented and internationally recognized certification systems worldwide. Our smart farm assurance solutions open the door to local, regional, and global markets for a wide range of producers and supply chain stakeholders while advancing our vision for safer and more sustainable farming practices worldwide.
Six reasons to choose GLOBALG.A.P. certification:
Improve farm management and efficiency – mitigating food safety and reputational risks, and facilitating trusted supply that meets major consumer demands
Achieve compliance with standards and add-ons that fulfil international supply chain requirements – supported by a framework of IT systems and a leading integrity program
Access a flexible portfolio of farm assurance solutions that provides all the coverage you need through one certification system – including the opportunity to join the consumer-facing GGN label initiative
Apply our standards and add-ons on a wide range of farm types and sizes – saving costs through a reduced number of audits
Support industry-driven solutions – developed by the sector, for the sector, and continuously improved in collaboration with stakeholders from across the value chain
Expand your regional and global networks by connecting with one of the largest community membership programs in the industry

Monitoring our certification system
Incidents and complaints
Complaints are a valuable source of feedback and an important tool for business development. Diligent and prompt attention to complaints can help us to identify the needs of our stakeholders, target areas for improvement, increase client satisfaction, and enhance overall performance.
GLOBALG.A.P. complaint management process
Complaints received by the GLOBALG.A.P. Secretariat are recorded, analyzed, and investigated by dedicated complaint management officers. This forms a core part of the GLOBALG.A.P. Integrity Program. Complaints management officers handle all issues discretely and confidentially, and while complaints are rated according to their importance and priority, a confirmation of receipt will be sent to all complainants within two working days.
Reports regarding a breach of standard requirements – including those related to maximum residue limits (MRLs) – can be raised via the complaint form. Complaints may also be received directly from stakeholders or the media. A flowchart of the complaint management process is available, and statistics on complaints investigations are transparently published every year in the GLOBALG.A.P. integrity reports.
While anonymous complaints are not encouraged, they are accepted. Complainants are encouraged to provide as much information as possible to help the investigation. Please note that an anonymous complaint may be more difficult to investigate due to difficulties in obtaining further details of the circumstances relating to the complaint.
GLOBALG.A.P. also has a dedicated team of technical experts to investigate complaints relating to MRLs. Exceedance complaints can be reported to mrl@globalgap.org. The MRL complaints procedure document provides full details on required information.
