The latest version of the GLOBALG.A.P. FSMA PSR add-on v2.1 was published on 7 January 2025. This update replaces v2.0 for audits starting on 7 April 2025.
New FSMA PSR add-on v2.1 published
The latest version of the GLOBALG.A.P. FSMA PSR add-on v2.1 was published on 7 January 2025. This update replaces FSMA PSR add-on v2.0 for audits starting on 7 April 2025. Designed to align with the latest FDA regulations, FSMA PSR add-on v2.1 can be used in combination with IFA v6 GFS for fruit and vegetables or IFA v6 Smart for remote audits in emergency situations. About FSMA PSR
The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule (PSR) add-on aims to address the specific requirements of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the production, handling, and storage of fruit and vegetable products. It is applicable globally for producers exporting to the US market and has been officially recognized by the FDA.
Transition period ends 7 April
From 7 April 2025, all FSMA PSR add-on audits conducted alongside IFA v6 Smart/GFS for fruit and vegetables must use FSMA PSR add-on v2.1. This means that producers and auditors must adopt the new checklist and self-assessment forms to ensure conformance.
Key updates in v2.1
The latest version brings several revisions, primarily in the section referring to preharvest agricultural water, following the FDA’s newly published FSMA Final Rule on Preharvest Agricultural Water. Other notable updates include correction of the general regulation's specifications, updated terminology in the principles and criteria, and alignment of the guidelines to the new agricultural water rule.

FSMA PSR add-on v2.1 includes the in-house trainer Produce Safety Alliance training requirements, previously required and reinforced through Technical News.
Principles & criteria and checklist updates:
Section 5: Updated records requirements.
Section 6: Removal of preharvest water testing.
Section 6: Introduction of preharvest agricultural water risk assessment and corrective action requirements.
All principles & criteria updated to Major Musts.
Guideline changes:
New definitions for agricultural water, agricultural water risk assessment, and agricultural water systems.
Inclusion of the FDA’s agricultural water risk assessment table.
Addition of FDA’s outcomes and mitigation procedures table.
