Other party private solution
Coop Italia Pesticide Transparency
Coop Italia Pesticide Transparency is a private add-on to the Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) standard for producers that supply the Italian retailer Coop. It is focused on preventing the use of active ingredients from the Coop Italia Pesticide Transparency List on fruit and vegetable products supplied under the Coop Italia brand.
Targeted criteria for Coop suppliers
What is Coop Italia Pesticide Transparency?
The use of chemical inputs in agriculture has received increasing media attention at both the national and international level and now represents a major consumer concern. In response, Coop Italia worked with FoodPLUS GmbH to develop the Pesticide Transparency add-on. Launched in 2021, it is aimed at evaluating and monitoring the potential use of a defined shortlist of agrochemicals in conjunction with the retailer’s pesticide reduction strategy. Originally developed in 1993, these actions are an integral part of Coop Italia's commitment to protecting the environment in which we live. The add-on is audited in combination with the Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) standard for fruit and vegetables – reducing duplication and increasing flexibility for suppliers.

Who should use Coop Italia Pesticide Transparency?
The Coop Italia Pesticide Transparency add-on is required for all producers and producer groups – domestic and international – that supply Coop Italia-branded fruit and vegetables either directly or via their suppliers.
All producers must hold certification to IFA for fruit and vegetables, as the audit builds on existing criteria in the IFA standard.
Reducing audit duplication in the supply chain
How does Coop Italia Pesticide Transparency work?
The add-on content is formed of control points and compliance criteria (CPCCs) which are graded at either Major Must or Minor Must level. The checklist contains dedicated Coop requirements – six CPCCs – that are audited in combination with those in the Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) standard for fruit and vegetables.
Which documents are required?
General rules specifications: Rules that define how the audit process works, from the scope of the add-on to the audit requirements.
Checklist: The full list of add-on criteria as used by CB auditors, enabling producers to perform a self-assessment in preparation for the on-site audit.
Coop Italia Pesticide Transparency List: The complete list of prohibited active ingredients.
How is certification status verified?
Every producer registered in the GLOBALG.A.P. certification system is assigned a 13-digit GLOBALG.A.P. identification number (e.g., a GGN). This number allows real-time verification of certification status in the GLOBALG.A.P. IT systems, upholding our rigorous transparency requirements throughout the supply chain.

Your guide to implementation
How to prepare for a Coop Italia Pesticide Transparency audit
Follow our five steps to conformance guide for an overview of the audit process and find a GLOBALG.A.P. approved certification body (CB) in your area to get started.
How does the audit process work?
Compliance with the add-on requirements is audited annually by an accredited and independent third-party certification body (CB) in combination with an Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) audit (or an audit to a benchmarked scheme/checklist).
Producers have the freedom to choose which CB they use (although it must be the same CB conducting the IFA audit and the Coop Italia Pesticide Transparency audit).
A successful audit results in a letter of conformance valid for one year.
The CB is responsible for uploading the audit report and maintaining the accuracy of producer data in the GLOBALG.A.P. IT systems.
Producers must undergo an on-site audit each year as part of the renewal process.
Audit results are uploaded to the GLOBALG.A.P. database. Only Coop Italia Pesticide Transparency Observers (Coop Italia and appointed primary suppliers), GLOBALG.A.P., and the CB which conducted the audit will be able to view your results.
More information on data access rights can be found in the general rules specifications.
Which version of Coop Italia Pesticide Transparency is currently valid?
There is currently one valid version of Coop Italia Pesticide Transparency available for audit.
V2 was published on 8 November 2023 and replaced v1.0-1 on 1 January 2024. It can be combined with IFA v6 Smart/GFS.

All of the required documents are available online, for free, and in multiple languages. They are linked below and can also be found in the document center.

Use the documents to guide the implementation of the standard requirements, and then
conduct a self-assessment using the checklist. Our worldwide network of Registered Trainers
can also provide assistance during audit preparations.

Search the list of GLOBALG.A.P. approved CBs by region, country, scope, and status. Contact the CB of your choice and request an audit. Note that the GLOBALG.A.P. fee table does not cover CB service fees such as audit time or travel costs to your site.

The CB will perform the on-site audit and upload the results to Audit Online Hub. Any non-compliances which are detected during the audit must be corrected within the specified period and verified by the CB before a letter of conformance can be issued.

When all requirements are met and verified by the CB, they will issue your letter of conformance for Coop Italia Pesticide Transparency. Your conformance status is then visible in the GLOBALG.A.P. IT systems for transparency in the market.
