GLOBALG.A.P. community member Agrosoft Latam hosts a forum on digitalization and traceability towards GLOBALG.A.P. certification

How can digitalization and traceability transform agriculture in Latin America? Agrosoft Latam brought together key leaders at a forum to explore challenges, opportunities, and the role of GLOBALG.A.P. certification in ensuring safe food production and market access.

On September 9, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, GLOBALG.A.P. community member Agrosoft Latam organized a forum on ‘Digitalization and traceability: towards GLOBALG.A.P. certification’. The event brought together more than 50 representatives from the agro-export sector, technology providers, and public authorities, including Ecuador’s Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Ing. Danilo Palacios, who stated “This forum marks a turning point in the digital traceability of the Ecuadorian agricultural sector.” 

Key topics and panel discussions 

The program featured keynote speeches and expert-led panels that addressed: 

  • Challenges in implementing GLOBALG.A.P. certification in Latin America 

  • Sustainable agriculture and circular economy practices 

  • Digital traceability as a driver of food safety and global market access 

  • Technological innovations enabling traceability and interoperability 

Two high-level panels set the tone for the future of the sector: 

  • From theory to action: Traceability and security that open markets — featuring Vicente Wong (CEO, Reybanpac), Karina Ubilla (Agzulasa), and Wladimir Morales (AGROCALIDAD), and moderated by Ana María Gallardo Cornejo, this session explored how international standards are strengthening consumer confidence and expanding market opportunities. 

  • Digital traceability and collaborative innovation for food safety — presented by Xavier Cárdenas (CEO, Agrosoft Latam) and Esteban Muñoz (CEO, GS1 Ecuador), and moderated by Berioska Torres, this discussion analyzed how integration between digital platforms and operational processes enhances food safety.

Strengthening the Sector 

Xavier Cárdenas, CEO of Agrosoft Latam, said “Interoperability is not just technology, it is trust among producers, certifiers, and consumers.” 

By convening leaders from across the value chain, Agrosoft Latam reaffirmed its role as a driver of digital transformation in Ecuador’s agricultural export industry and highlighted the contribution of GLOBALG.A.P. certification to safe and sustainable food production worldwide.
