GLOBALG.A.P. joins international dialogue on tropical fruit at Fruitnet Tropicals Congress 2025

Paula Berriel, Account Manager at GLOBALG.A.P., was among over 200 delegates who gathered in Antwerp, Belgium, for the Fruitnet Tropicals Congress 2025 — a key event for the tropical fruit sector and an important platform for connecting with Fruitnet, one of GLOBALG.A.P.’s valued media partners.

The two-day congress brought together experts and businesses from 23 countries to explore opportunities and challenges in the tropical fruit market. With over 20 speakers, topics ranged from the latest European market trends and consumer demand for fresh-cut tropicals, to supply chain innovations and ethical sourcing.

“The Fruitnet Tropicals Congress offered a valuable space for open dialogue on how our sector can work together and rethink the questions we have been asking so we can then work towards smarter, more sustainable supply chains,” said Paula. “I was particularly inspired by the call for coordinated action across the supply chain and the focus on practical solutions, such as better data integration to reduce duplication and improve efficiency.”

Paula also highlighted the growing role of certification in supporting many of the challenges in tropical fruit production, like resource management, biodiversity, and consistent product quality — issues that resonate strongly with GLOBALG.A.P.’s mission. Sessions on circular thinking, varietal innovation, and the rise of domestically grown tropical fruits in Europe sparked further ideas on how certification can help shape the future of the category.

“We’re grateful to Fruitnet for the invitation and for hosting such a forward-thinking event. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with industry partners and share perspectives on where we go next,” Paula added.

Fruitnet Tropicals Congress once again proved its role as a vital meeting point for the tropical fruit community in Europe.
