New member ‘MRL Management’ brings expertise in residue monitoring to the GLOBALG.A.P. community

Introducing MRL Management

Founded in Santiago, Chile, in 2017, MRL Management has established itself as a pioneer in pesticide residue management, offering a comprehensive platform that helps exporters adhere to maximum residue limits (MRLs) across multiple global markets. In September 2024, the company became an Associate Community Member of GLOBALG.A.P., joining a network dedicated to promoting food safety, responsible farming, and transparency in agricultural production.

Driving quality with innovative solutions

MRL Management’s flagship product, the Intelligent Quality System, is a comprehensive platform for food quality management that goes beyond standard monitoring. The platform supports clients in managing complex processes, from ensuring laboratory response times to tailoring MRL requirements for each destination market. Given the variability in market regulations, MRL Management adapts its solution to help companies precisely meet the demands of markets like the European Union and other regions with strict regulatory standards.

With a strong focus on food safety and quality, MRL Management’s approach enables clients to confidently navigate heavily regulated environments. “We are thrilled to join the GLOBALG.A.P. community, as it represents a commitment to higher agricultural standards and sustainability. By becoming a member, we aim to further strengthen our focus on food safety and quality, aligning our operations with globally recognized practices. This membership opens up new opportunities for collaboration and growth, reinforcing our dedication to providing value-added services to our clients,” shared Claudio Losada, Partner at MRL Management.

Why MRL testing matters

Pesticide residue testing, specifically maximum residue levels testing, is an essential aspect of modern food safety. MRL testing involves laboratory analysis to screen for residues from plant protection products, ensuring that food products comply with safety standards set by national and international legislation. This process is critical in providing transparency to both retailers and consumers, as it verifies the responsible use of pesticides in agricultural production.
For producers, regular MRL testing is necessary to meet the certification requirements outlined in the GLOBALG.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) standard for fruit and vegetables and to qualify for consumer-facing labels such as the GGN label for agriculture

Aligning with GLOBALG.A.P.’s commitment to safety and transparency

As a GLOBALG.A.P. Community Member, MRL Management will work alongside a global network of organizations committed to setting and advancing food safety, sustainability, and transparency standards. This collaboration aligns with GLOBALG.A.P.’s goals, providing MRL Management with valuable opportunities to influence and enhance best practices in the field.

“We are delighted to welcome MRL Management into the GLOBALG.A.P. community,” said Elmé Coetzer-Boersma, Managing Director of GLOBALG.A.P. “Their expertise in MRL monitoring and compliance contributes significantly to the shared goals of food safety and transparency that our standards uphold. Together, we’re fostering innovation and accountability in agriculture for the benefit of consumers worldwide.”
