Pomona Farming joins growing network of GLOBALG.A.P. Community Members

In June 2023, the GLOBALG.A.P. Secretariat welcomed Pomona Farming, a multilateral agricultural enterprise, as a GLOBALG.A.P. Community Member in the producer/supplier category. Known for its commitment to sustainable farming practices, Pomona Farming is a pioneer in the agricultural sector, specializing in the cultivation of premium California almonds, pistachios, olive oil, raisins, walnuts, and more across the 33,000-acre operation.

Pomona Farming’s dedication to sustainability is evident in its regenerative farming practices, which prioritize ecological health, resource conservation, and a positive community impact. Pomona and GLOBALG.A.P. certification

With a production area of nearly 14,500 hectares, Pomona Farming is currently the largest almond producer in the USA. The company’s pistachio production adds an additional 1,380 hectares, making them the second-largest certified producer in the US for almond and pistachio production. Underlining its commitment to meeting stringent food safety requirements, Pomona Farming holds certification to the GLOBALG.A.P. Integrated Farming Assurance (IFA) standard, version 5.4-1-GFS, for the production of both crops.

Pomona Farming’s Global Managing Director of Sustainability, Deanna Eakin, emphasized the significance of the company’s deliberate selection of GLOBALG.A.P. certification. “This certification not only builds trust in the global marketplace but also validates Pomona’s results-based approach to sustainable farming, facilitating seamless collaboration with key stakeholders in the agricultural industry.”
