GRASP

Country Risk Classification Concept

Evidence methods for the GLOBALG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Practice (GRASP) principles and criteria are determined by the GLOBALG.A.P. country risk classification concept. This groups countries into three different risk levels according to rankings issued annually by the World Bank (Worldwide Governance Indicators).

High-risk countries

High-risk countries are those with a Worldwide Governance Indicator (WGI) rating from 0 to 49. The GRASP methodology for high-risk countries requires the presence of workers on the farm during an assessment. Individual and group interviews are cross-checked with a 50% interview sampling of documents.

Medium-risk countries

Medium-risk countries are those with a Worldwide Governance Indicator (WGI) rating from 50 to 79. The GRASP methodology for medium-risk countries requires the presence of workers on the farm during an assessment. Group interviews with workers are cross-checked with at least a 50% interview sampling of documents.

Low-risk countries

Low-risk countries are those with a Worldwide Governance Indicator (WGI) rating from 80 to 100. The GRASP methodology for low-risk countries requires the presence of workers on the farm during an assessment only if interviews are requested by the buyer and/or the producer. The required sampling of documents is 50% of the reported workers.
