In January 2023, the National Poultry Company became the first and only poultry producer in Jordan and in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to achieve GLOBALG.A.P. certification. National Poultry is a subsidiary of Del Monte Fresh Produce and a leading poultry producer in Jordan. Established in 1994, the company began operations in 1997 and is registered at Amman Stock Exchange as a public shareholding company with a registered capital of JD 30,000,000. National Poultry Company is one of the most important and largest private-sector companies that contribute to developing the agricultural and industrial capabilities in Jordan through continuous investment. It plays a serious role in the economic growth in the Jordanian south areas, providing more than 1,500 jobs for locals with a variety of qualifications.

Vertically integrated poultry production

National Poultry is vertically integrated, meaning the company breeds and hatches its own
chicks, produces its own feed, and slaughters, processes, and distributes the end products in
Jordan and neighbouring Arab countries. Each step of the process, from the production of 100% grain-based feed to processing the slaughtered birds, is closely monitored with strict quality controls.

A large, high-tech enterprise

National Poultry has 28 locations in Amman and southern Jordan which, together, produce 40,000 tonnes of chicken meat and an additional 7,000 tonnes of processed meat products annually. The company’s hatcheries have the capacity to produce 39 million chickens for their broiler farms every year.

The vertically integrated system relies heavily on advanced technology at every step, from in ovo vaccination prior to hatching, to automated food, water, and ventilation controls during broiler growth. And high-tech slaughter and processing systems satisfy Halal manual slaughter requirements and global health standards simultaneously.

National Poultry sells fresh and frozen whole chickens and chicken cuts, as well as processed products like chicken nuggets and canned meat. They market their products under their own label as well as other private labels, including that of Del Monte Fresh Produce.

GLOBALG.A.P. certification for livestock

National Poultry achieved GLOBALG.A.P. certification in January of this year. GLOBALG.A.P. certification for livestock producers addresses matters of food safety, worker welfare, animal welfare, and environmental and sustainability concerns.

“Food safety and the health of our customers is at the heart of our company’s principles”  said Mr Ahmed Raoud, general manager of National Poultry. “All the products we provided, both nationally and internationally, are produced according to the latest version of the highest international food safety rules and standards, under the close supervision of a qualified team of veterinarians, animal production engineers, and quality and food safety engineers, in addition to the direct supervision of agricultural, health, and veterinary authorities in Jordan as well as third parties.”

Achievement of GLOBALG.A.P. certification strongly reinforces National Poultry’s message to consumers that they are committed to consumer safety and to the wellbeing of their workers, their flocks, and the environment.
