GLOBALG.A.P. Partners with STK Stockton to Tackle Sustainability in Israeli Agriculture

Sustainable and resource efficient agriculture is a critical issue concerning farmers in Israel. This was at the core of the GLOBALG.A.P. TOUR Stop that took place in Israel at the Orient Hotel Jerusalem on 13 Nov. 2017.

Hosted by STK The Stockton Group, a leading company in the development and marketing of botanical based solutions for food protection, the TOUR Stop consisted of a half day event that gathered all STK representatives from all over the world, GLOBALG.A.P. stakeholders in Israel, governmental officials from agriculture, and the food industry.

GLOBALG.A.P. Chief Marketing Officer Flavio Alzueta gave more than 100 delegates from over 40 countries extensive insight into the GLOBALG.A.P. System and its impact on agriculture around the world.

Mr. David Maris, Senior Technical Manager Greenyard Fresh UK as one of the largest F&V importers and exporters in Israel, offered his perspective on the industry, stating that GLOBALG.A.P. is the one common requirement of all European retailers today.

Delegates were then treated to a thought-provoking panel discussion that included STK CEO Guy Elitzur, Rafi Gamson of QCI, Spier Ruty (a consultant), and a local farmer. Among several topics, the discussion also covered a key challenge facing Israeli farmers, namely water scarcity and the reduction of the water quota for farming in the country due to climate change.

The overall event inspired several dialogues and was widely regarded as an inspiring opportunity to share ideas and explore solutions.
